Our Meetings are held on the 3rd Saturday monthly commencing at 1.30pm for a 2PM start. Visitors and new members are always welcomed.
Meetings are held at Millwell Road Community Hall, Millwell Road, Maroochydore.
Applications for membership are always welcome.
The joining fee is $10 single or $15 for couple/family.
'A Bromeliad Spectacular' Our Annual Show will be held at Millwell Road Community Centre, Millwell Road, Maroochydore on Saturday 2nd May 2009 - 8.30am to 3.30pm, and Sunday 3rd May 2009 - 9.00am to 2.00pm.
There will be a huge display of rare plants, Plant sales, Bromeliad Growing clinics, Demonstrations, Guest speakers, Monster raffle, and Refreshments will be available. Admission is $3.00.
Vale Bob Paulsen
Bob was the inaugural President of SCBS for the period 1999 to 2004, continuing on from 2005 as Vice President. Bob has been a mentor to all members of SCBS, past and present, always willing to share his incredible knowledge of Bromeliads, and to give advice on their culture.
In 2002, Bob was bestowed Honorary Life Membership, as much for his commitment with Bromeliads State-wide as in his working to get the SCBS established and now thriving.
In honour of Bob, recently Texas Cryptanthus hybridist, Carole Richtmyer named her new cross of C. 'Oklahoma Sunset' x 'Red Baron' as Cryptanthus 'Bob Paulsen', a fitting tribute to this true, distinguished gentleman.
Sadly, Bob passed away on 25 November 2008.
